NEWS How to get all Optical Disks in Grounded 2

Grounded 2's early access build has six Optical Disks for you to find on your adventures, which will allow you to get permanent upgrades to help you survive better.


As cool as Optical Disks are, some of them can be quite hard to locate. Thankfully, I've managed to find all of them, so this guide will help you get them and help you unlock those upgrades early.

All Grounded 2 Optical Disk locations​

There are six Optical Disks to find in Grounded 2, and they can be broadly divided into two types. The first type is the TURBO disks, which offer you base defense and creature upgrades. The second type is the Gray disks, which allow you to get new recipes at the Ranger Station. In my experience, TURBO disks are easier to acquire as they're part of the main campaign.

Snackbar Anthill disk location​

Go to the right of the Ranger Station's back entrance, and you'll find the entrance to Snackbar Anthill. This can be done right after completing your training. Follow the straight path until you turn right. Then, clear the pebbles with your Omni-Hammer to find a Red Soldier ant.


Defeat the ant, and you'll come across a corpse with a Buried Treasure chest in front of it. Use your Omni-Shovel to dig the item out.

Stolen Optical Disk location​

You'll be contracted via your hacked SCA.B 2K right after you hatch your first ant buggy. Contact Sloane using the Ranger Stations' Comms Array, and she will help you track the source. You'll then reach a base under a wooden platform, northwest of the Ranger Station. Use your buggy to chomp through the tunnel and proceed to defeat the ORC Northern Scorpion. You'll then find a toppled cabinet in front of a purple symbol.

Network Center Penthouse Office disk location​

This is one of the easiest disks to obtain. Go inside the Network Center, defeat the mysterious stranger (part of the Stolen disk). You'll find a desk with a BURG.L head, and the disk will be to its right.

Gray Optical Disk A location​

Optical Disk A is the first Gray disk you can find, which is located at the Toxic Anthill. You'll find the south entrance in Snackbar Front (use the pesticide can with a corpse as your visual cue). Continue straight, turn left at ten, and follow the tunnel. You'll come across a room with a spray can with a donut on top. Now, take a right, and keep following the path while avoiding the pesticide (as this will damage your buggy).


The tunnel ends in a large room, and the disk is next to a corpse. If you're just in it for the disk, it's better to collect it and run, for this location also has the Cockroach Queen boss.

Spider Den Anthill Disk location​

Go to the marked location in Pine Hill. Use the North Entrance (at the north-east part of the region), and go down to the second level to find the anthill. You'll find the hold near the Worm Holes candy container. Enter the hole, and head straight. Take the first right and get off your buggy. Locate an archway with a root hanging on top of it to use as an indicator. If you're in the correct room, the disk is located on the right side, beside a body.

Ice Cream Cart Disk location​

Track the marked location to get to the cart, and then head right to get a small tunnel entrance. Use the entrance, go inside, and keep along the right side. You'll come across a row of ice cream cones - go right and pass two popsicles. Keep following the path, and you'll come across the body with the disk on your left. This is before the cone with Raw Science.


There are scorpions at this location that you'll need to dispatch. Also, bring all required tools and consumables to survive the low temperature, lest you want to freeze to death.
